Due to other previous seasons, Saturday’s game had been predicted to decide the league’s champion, but Liverpool’s stumbling season has seen them slip 19 points behind City this time. Despite the distance on the league table, Alexander-Arnold claims the motivation for this weekend’s match is the same as usual as his team prepares for a crucial stretch of games that will come following the trip to the Etihad Stadium, including Chelsea and Arsenal.
“You always have motivation when you play against Man City,” he continued. “We and they have been the league’s top clubs for the past five or six years, in my opinion, and they constantly outperform the competition.”
