Despite the growing chances that Borna Barisic would leave Rangers this summer, it’s reported that no new contract discussions have yet been initiated by either side.
The defender, whose contract at the Ibrox stadium continues through June 2024, is being pursued by Turkish and French clubs, and Glasgow Rangers expects offers for the Croatian in the next transfer window, despite serious concerns over his future.
The 30-year-old Croatian international is being actively pursued by other clubs, and if the price Rangers are asking for is paid by someone, he may most likely depart.
Barisic signed a contract extension with the club in 2020 after moving from NK Osijek to the Rangers in 2018. For the Light Blues this year, the defender has made 42 appearances in all competitions. He managed to score two goals and twelve assists in those games.
Alongside former rival Josip Juranovic from the Old Firm, the Croatian international competed for his team in the World Cup in Qatar. Barisic only made one appearance in Qatar, in their victory over Japan in the round of 16.
Seven first-team starters, including Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, and Ryan Jack, as well as other seasoned first-team regulars, are expected to leave the Light Blues when their contracts expire at the end of the current campaign.
Malik Tillman, another loanee, is also slated to return to Bayern Munich, his original club if his loan is not extended permanently this summer.
Despite the addition of Ridvan Yilmaz in the summer, Michael Beale has kept the left-back in the starting lineup this year.
