Youri Tielemans posted a video message on his Instagram account saying a “heartfelt goodbye” to his Leicester City supporters.
This summer, the midfielder from Belgium’s contract with the Foxes expires and he’s packing his bags as we speak. The 26-year-old, who beat Chelsea to score the winning goal in the 2021 FA Cup final, is set to depart the King Power Stadium after Leicester City were relegated down to the Championship.
“Dear Leicester City supporters, I am saying goodbye to this magnificent club after four and a half fantastic years,” he stated. “You embraced me with your warmth and passion the moment I set foot here.”
“We have experienced many memorable moments together, including success and victory, love, hope, and even defeat. I will always be appreciative of your support.”
“I would want to express my appreciation to Khun Top, Leicester’s chairman and owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, the board, the staff, the players, and the supporters for providing my family and me with a place to call home,” he added. “This is not a forever goodbye but rather a passionate farewell filled with pride, love, and thankfulness.”
Tielemans first joined the Foxes on loan from Monaco in January 2019, then in July of that same year, his move was made permanent in a then-club-record £40 million transaction.
In 195 games for the team in all competitions, he scored 28 goals and has 58 appearances for his native Belgium on an international level.
