To sign Moises Caicedo, Chelsea is getting ready to make their offer to Brighton & Hove Albion.
This summer, the Ecuadorian midfielder has emerged as Chelsea’s top target, and negotiations already seem to be in place.
Caicedo has made it known to Brighton that he would want the opportunity to leave before the start of the new season. Caicedo signed a new long-term deal in March after seeing a January move to Arsenal fall through.
The club is considering the possibility of letting Caicedo leave, but they are focused on getting what they believe to be a fair price for the 21-year-old. According to insiders, Brighton believes Caicedo’s cost should be in the same “ballpark” as West Ham’s Declan Rice, a Premier League opponent that recently reached an agreement with Arsenal for a British record £105 million fee for Rice.
They have informed the player’s reps that they are presently holding out for £100 million and they would only sell him for what they consider to be fair market value.
Chelsea, on the other hand, believes that Caicedo will be the ideal addition to their midfield. This is particularly important given that Chelsea has already lost Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and N’Golo Kante from their midfield this summer.
