Granit Xhaka, a midfielder for Arsenal, has been officially signed by Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year contract.
In his eighth and last season at the Emirates Stadium, the midfielder had his greatest year at Arsenal during the 2022–23 season, leading the Gunners to a second-place finish. Leverkusen put together a deal worth €25 million to sign the 30-year-old.
After officially signing, Xhaka revealed to the club’s official website: “I know the league and I watched it when I was in London. Bayer has a rich history and big goals. Mainly, I think it’s a club with a bright future. Everyone in our group is aspirational and driven to succeed, so I’m eagerly awaiting the coming years.”
Simon Rolfes, the club’s managing director, praised Xhaka’s signing, stating, “We have been able to bring in an absolute elite talent. His power on the field is widely acknowledged. But more than anything, his exceptional mind and demeanour make him one of the rare players who can lead a team with such authority.”
