Sadio Mane, a striker for Bayern Munich, is now a target for Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia.
In his own right, Mane is a Liverpool legend who left Merseyside for Bavaria last summer after a phenomenally successful six-year run with the Reds.
At the Allianz Arena, he was expected to reach the same heights. However, Mane underperformed and found himself in the middle of controversy when he got into a brawl with Leroy Sane after the season, while Bayern just about managed to win an 11th consecutive Bundesliga title.
Mane led Bayern to 38 victories in all competitions with 12 goals and six assists. Saudi Arabia is the best destination for Mane, according to Bayern, who are looking to offload him since there is little interest from across Europe.
Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, and Al Nassr are the PIF-owned teams in the league. Al Ettifaq, who just hired Gerrard as manager and wants to sign Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, wants to compete with them for Mane.
Along with Mane and Henderson, Al Ettifaq is still in negotiations with Aston Villa to recruit Philippe Coutinho, another former teammate of Steven Gerrard. After starting the job, the former midfielder made the Brazilian one of his top transfer objectives.
