Swiss striker Zeki Amdouni has joined Burnley from Basel for an unknown sum.
The 22-year-old striker, who was ahead of all scorers in the Europa Conference League last season with seven goals, has agreed to a five-year contract.
Amdouni has scored five goals in four games for Switzerland in the Euro 2024 qualifying process, in addition to his 12 goals in the Swiss Super League. Since making his international debut in a 2-1 Nations League triumph against the Czech Republic in September of last year, Amdouni has had a strong start.
In his second game, a 5-0 Euro 2024 qualification victory in Belarus in March, he scored his first goal as a senior for his nation. He added four more goals against Israel, Andorra, and Romania.
Additionally, this summer’s European Under-21 Championships saw the striker score twice, notably in Switzerland’s 2-1 extra-time loss to Spain in the quarterfinals.
In addition, he contributed 22 goals in 52 games for Basel last season, including both legs of their 4-3 Europa Conference League semifinal loss to Fiorentina on aggregate.
Amdouni expressed his excitement to begin on the Burnley website. “The Premier League is, in my opinion, the finest league in the world. It’s not easy, but I have faith that with the help of the manager and the staff, I can succeed here.”
