Axel Disasi will leave AS Monaco and join Chelsea for 45 million euros (£38.57 million).
Since moving from Stade de Reims to Monaco in August 2020, Disasi has made 118 appearances in Ligue 1. He has four France appearances under his belt, and in the World Cup loss to Tunisia in November, he made his international debut.
After Wesley Fofana’s injury, Chelsea will have another right-sided centre-back option in the face of the France international Disasi, 25. After undergoing anterior cruciate ligament surgery, Fofana has been out for a while. Additionally now injured, Benoit Badiashile won’t be fully well until after the start of the Premier League season. Currently, Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, and Brighton-interested Levi Colwill are Chelsea’s alternatives in the centre of defence.
The Frenchman will join forwards Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea’s third summer addition. Lesley Ugochukwu, a midfielder for Rennes, is also close to joining the Blues for £23.2 million, however, he may be immediately loaned to Ligue 1 team Strasbourg as Chelsea’s ownership group just acquired a full share in the team.
Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager who replaced Frank Lampard, is restructuring his already sizable team.
So far this summer, the team has lost players Mateo Kovacic, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, and ex-captain Cesar Azpiliceuta.
