In the 3-1 victory over Chelsea, West Ham United manager David Moyes said there was “never any debate” about Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta.
After scoring, he was surrounded by his teammates before falling to the ground with what seemed to be a cramp. However, he played well against Chelsea and converted a last-second penalty to secure the victory.
Paqueta joined West Ham from Lyon last summer for a club-record transfer cost that may go past £50 million. He is now in his second season with the club.
It’s not a huge weight off his shoulders; it’s just a fantastic performance, according to Moyes. The 25-year-old’s rumoured transfer to Manchester City has been put on hold as a consequence of the FA’s investigation into possible betting rule violations.
“There are no issues since he’s a strong and hardy character,” said Moyes.
“I believed that during the entire game, 65,000 people came to their feet and cheered him for what he accomplished.”
