The two teams chasing teenage football phenom Lorran from Flamengo are Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 17-year-old, who is under contract with Jay-Z’s ROCNation Sports agency, is widely regarded as one of Brazilian football’s brightest talents. In January, he scored his club’s first-ever goal in a 1-1 tie with Bangu to set a new record for the club’s youngest goal scorer.
In an effort to sign Lorran early and beat off several competitors after having a difficult start to the 2023–24 season, United has been actively chasing him for several months.
Their biggest rival so far, Brighton, who have a history of supporting the growth of young players, has also discussed a prospective move to the AMEX Stadium with the players’ representation.
While Chelsea, Manchester City, and West Ham United, all members of the Premier League, have recently indicated interest in Lorran, Flamengo is in no rush to offload their greatest asset at this moment in time.
With Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion already in negotiations over a prospective deal, sources with knowledge of Lorran’s situation have indicated that the majority of Europe’s top clubs are closely monitoring his progress.
Along with formidable European rivals Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, 5Times can also reveal that Real Madrid’s renowned talent scout Juni Calafat is keeping track of Lorran’s progress.
Lorran cannot go to Europe until next July when he becomes 18, but his current age does not prohibit a transaction from being secured in advance. His current Flamengo contract has a December 2025 expiration date and a release clause that is reportedly set at €50 million (£43 million).
