Sources have told 5Times that Arsenal is keeping an eye on Wolves winger Pedro Neto and that scouts were present to see his crucial performance against Manchester City on Saturday.
In his early years at Molineux, Neto was regarded as one of the top young wide forwards in the Premier League. However, a catastrophic knee injury he suffered in April 2021 stunted his progress. In 32 games in all competitions for Wolves between the seasons 2021–22 and 2022–23, the Portugal international rarely ever started and managed just one goal.
However, with one goal and four assists in his first seven Premier League games of the 2023–24 season, Neto has already returned to his energetic, line-breaking form. During Wolves’ unexpected 2-1 victory over Man City at the weekend, he forced the initial own goal by running past several players and having Ruben Dias, a fellow Portuguese player, divert his cross into the net.
Longtime Neto devotees Arsenal have sent scouts to see him many times during the past month. Left-footed Neto can play on either wing, but he typically begins from the right. Bukayo Saka, the only left-footed winger for Arsenal’s first team, has started all 87 of their Premier League games this season, a club record.
But other teams are also interested in Neto besides Arsenal. As they strive to improve their own offensive options, sources have told 5Times that Wolves’ West Midlands rivals Aston Villa have lately inquired about his development. Neto is also admired internationally, with Atletico Madrid showing interest in the 23-year-old and the Saudi Pro League still considering making the winger one of their next headline acquisitions.
