After Antony resumed first-team training with Manchester United this week, his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin released a new statement.
The winger has been accused of abuse by three different women, including Cavallin. To cope with these allegations, he recently took a leave of absence from United. On Friday, he returned to training. While investigators in Sao Paulo are also looking into accusations against Antony, the Greater Manchester Police visited with him this week to discuss their ongoing inquiry.
Cavallin’s attorneys have issued a new statement on behalf of their client now that Antony has rejoined the United first squad. The statement reads: “Gabriela Cavallin’s attorneys notify that the player’s offences are still being looked into by the Manchester Police as well as the Brazilian Police, which is why we expect that he will soon be brought before a judge to stand trial. It seems obvious to us that fallacies would be created with the intention of the team bringing him back to training.”
Despite being spotted at Old Trafford, Antony was not a member of United’s matchday squad for their 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday. On Tuesday night, United will resume playing at home against Galatasaray in the Champions League.
Erik ten Hag rotated through a variety of right flank alternatives as a result of Antony and fellow wide attacker Jadon Sancho missing out for much of September. He used Facundo Pellistri more frequently, moved Bruno Fernandes to the wings, and occasionally even played a midfield diamond.
