The Reds captain was honoured by the Liverpool Former Players Association at the annual gala dinner, with Simon Mignolet picking up Player of the Year.
Liverpool legends past and present were in attendance at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool last night as Steven Gerrard’s career achievements were formally recognised by the Anfield greats who had gone before him with the presentation of the ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone Award’. His current team mate Simon Mignolet was awarded Player of the Year, a decision that may surprise some but one the players had good reasons to make, as we explain later.
The event was the 5Times Liverpool Legends Gala Dinner, an annual event hosted by the Liverpool Former Players Association that raises funds for good causes in Liverpool and charities close to the players’ hearts.
Gerrard is now down to his final two games for his beloved Reds before he heads Stateside for a new chapter in his career with the LA Galaxy. The Legends wanted to honour him to mark his many accomplishments since joining the club as a schoolboy.
