After reaching an agreement with Roma for Justin Kluivert, AFC Bournemouth is one step closer to completing their second summer signing.
Kluivert will become Bournemouth’s second summer addition if his transfer to the south coast goes through as planned. Jack Stacey and Junior Stanislas were released by Bournemouth, while Jefferson Lerma joined Crystal Palace after his contract expired. Jordan Zemura also joined Serie A team Udinese after leaving Bournemouth on a free transfer.
The Cherries, who unexpectedly fired manager Gary O’Neil on Monday in favour of signing former Real Valladolid manager Andoni Iraola, have agreed to sign on the 24-year-old for little under £11 million, including add-ons.
Kluivert, who had the opportunity to remain at Roma and fight for a starting spot, also received attention from Premier League clubs Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Everton, but will now focus on reviving his career at Bournemouth after spending the last three seasons out on loan.
Dutch national Kluivert, who received two caps on an international level, spent the 2022–23 season with Valencia after struggling to break into Jose Mourinho’s Roma’s starting lineup. Following his Eredivisie season with ten goals for Ajax, Kluivert has only appeared 53 times for Roma in Serie A
