In a deal worth up to 20 million euros (£17.3 million), Ajax has acquired Portuguese striker Carlos Borges from Manchester City.
With 21 goals in 24 games, the 19-year-old led the Premier League 2 last season, the premier division for youth football. There was a rumour that West Ham was in the lead in the pursuit of Borges last month.
After joining City’s academy in 2014, Borges departs without ever making a senior appearance for the first squad. The agreement for the Portugal U19s forward includes a buy-back option and a 20% sell-on clause.
