For the 2023–24 season, Atletico Madrid is willing to let Joao Felix go on loan.
Chelsea wants to keep the Portuguese attacker at Stamford Bridge, but they are fretting about Atletico’s £87 million asking price for the Portuguese striker.
As a result of his promising six-month stay with the team since January, the Blues may decide to loan him out again. In the 3-1 victory against Bournemouth last weekend, Felix scored his third goal for Chelsea, giving Frank Lampard his first victory as caretaker manager following six straight losses in all competitions.
The Blues, who had a poor season in terms of goals, may organise a loan extension between the two teams, according to a report from the Evening Standard. Atletico are reportedly asking for a loan fee of around £16 million, which is expensive given that Chelsea will also have to pay Felix’s enormous salary for the season.
Following productive discussions with Chelsea representatives, Mauricio Pochettino is also anticipated to be named the Blues’ new manager in the upcoming weeks. If he’s given the position of Chelsea’s new manager, the Argentine is rumoured to want to bring in a new striker as part of his rebuilding efforts at Stamford Bridge, and Felix may be the perfect candidate to lead the attack.
To attempt and lower the cost of Felix’s move, Chelsea is rumoured to have offered Marc Cucurella and/or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as part of a prospective swap deal.
By signing Felix to a permanent agreement rather than another loan period, Chelsea’s owner Todd Boehly would be able to reduce the Blues’ first team.
