Sources have told 5Times that Tyler Adams, a midfielder for Leeds United, has had his release clause activated by Chelsea.
The £20 million condition that permits Adams to leave Elland Road if an interested team is willing to pay in full was activated after the Whites were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Adams is scheduled to have a physical checkup within the next 24 hours, and the Blues have told Leeds that they intend to pay the release clause in full. Adams is seen by those in control at Stamford Bridge as a smart signing as they attempt to provide manager Mauricio Pochettino with the midfield reinforcements he has vocally demanded this summer.
Chelsea is also still trying to come to terms with Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, whose £100 million price tag has so far proven to be a challenge. Chelsea’s most recent bid, which stood at £80 million, was possibly rivalled by Liverpool’s late contact with Brighton, although those conversations have not yet gone to the point of making a formal offer.
