Erik ten Hag has stressed that Manchester United must make better investments this summer if they want to be a title contender in the upcoming season.
The club knows that investing in their team will give them a better chance of playing in the top four and winning trophies in the future. The search for a new number nine is at the heart of Man Utd’s summer transfer strategy.
Harry Kane, Victor Osmihen, Dusan Vlahovic, or Lautaro Martinez were mentioned as the club’s possible latest forward addition, and Rasmus Hojlund, Santiago Gimenez, Benjamin Sesko, and Mohammed Kudus were mentioned as a younger squad addition. Also lately linked with a transfer to Old Trafford are Kim Min-Jae, Declan Rice, and Joshua Kimmich.
The Red Devils had a far better 2022–23 season under new manager Ten Hag, earning 17 more points than in the previous Premier League campaign, winning the Carabao Cup and reaching the FA Cup final, where they will meet rivals Manchester City.
The Man Utd boss suggested that while the team was moving in the right direction, new player transfers were necessary to advance them to the next level after his team’s season-ending 2-1 victory against Fulham at Old Trafford.
“There is promise in both this squad and the individual players,” Ten Hag said, adding that while things are moving in the right direction, there is still a long way to go.
“We have shown development over the season, which is a compliment to the players and coaches. We worked very hard, but we must make a better investment,” the Man Utd boss added.
