Ryan Gravenberch won’t play for Liverpool until after the September international break, according to Klopp, who is “quite positive” about this.
He joined Liverpool on the final day of the transfer window, and won’t be making his debut for the club until later on, since he was too late to play against Aston Villa on Sunday.
On Friday evening, Gravenberch completed his £34 million transfer from Bayern Munich, strengthening the midfield at Anfield and securing the position he had played in Germany.
The 21-year-old Dutchman was formerly regarded as one of Europe’s top midfield prospects when playing for Ajax under then-Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. His move to Liverpool gave him the chance to rekindle his career.
Before the Villa game, Gravenberch had the opportunity to practise with his new Liverpool teammates on Saturday, but it’s more likely that he’ll make his debut in a week.
Liverpool will travel to the midlands to play Wolves in the Premier League on September 16 following the international break. Gravenberch will have had nearly two weeks by then to adjust to his new surroundings and get familiar with Klopp’s theories and strategies.
