Riyad Mahrez, an Algerian winger, will join Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli according to a £30 million agreement negotiated by Manchester City.

32-year-old Mahrez has been permitted to skip City’s pre-season tour of South Korea and Japan.

As long as Mahrez’s contract still had two years left, City had already agreed to his release as long as they got a proposal that matched their value of him. Mahrez joined City for £60 million in 2018, and during the Blues’ Treble-winning campaign, he scored 15 goals in 47 appearances.

The only senior player missing City’s journey to Asia is Mahrez. This summer, rumours have swirled around the futures of three players: Spanish defender Aymeric Laporte, Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva, and English defender Kyle Walker.

All three, nevertheless, are members of Guardiola’s travelling team for the show matches.
