Midfielder Edson Alvarez has officially signed with West Ham United from Dutch club Ajax.
Alvarez, 25, has committed to West Ham for five years after signing a five-year deal at the London Stadium. Alvarez told club reporters, “I am really thrilled and very proud to be here. It’s great to be in London and to see London Stadium. I’m eager to play in front of the West Ham supporters here.”
Alvarez is the first purchase the Hammers have made with the £105 million they received from the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal. According to 5Times’ close sources, Alvarez will cost West Ham about £34 million if all add-ons are satisfied.
Alvarez continued, “This is a really special point in my career. For my family and I, playing for a team like West Ham is a dream come true.”
“We’re incredibly happy to welcome Edson to our group,” manager David Moyes said. “He is an accomplished international player who has achieved considerable success so far in his career for both his clubs and country. We’re looking forward to welcoming him to West Ham and watching him contribute to the Club in English and European competition.”
