This summer, Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe will have access to up to £150 million to enhance his first team.
The Toon are planning to invest between £100-150 million to get their team ready for a Champions League run next season. Following their 6-1 win against Tottenham last Sunday, Newcastle are in third place in the standings, six points ahead of Spurs in fifth, despite having played one more game.
Depending on where they finish the season, the Magpies have been planning for the summer with two different budgets, with £150 million being the upper limit.
The top end of the budget may now be taken into consideration as their participation in Champions League football becomes more likely by the week. In preparation for the upcoming season, Howe is eager to strengthen his team with a left-back and a defensive midfielder.
Bruno Guimaraes, a Brazilian, has excelled in the holding position this year, but the former Bournemouth boss would like to add a more natural defensive midfielder to the team so that the 25-year-old may play further forward.
Although Kieran Tierney of Arsenal is a target, Dan Burn has also performed admirably at left-back and would be a superior choice in that position.
Furthermore, Howe wants to add further protection at the back with a younger, right-sided centre-half should they be able to stretch the cash far enough.
