In order to secure Moroccan international Amrabat, Man Utd and Fiorentina ultimately came to an agreement on a loan with an option to purchase in the summer of 2024 after months of ongoing negotiations.
Sofyan Amrabat has completed a part of his required Manchester United physical in Italy before flying to Carrington to complete the transaction.
The loan price will be roughly £8.5 million, and the Red Devils will have the option to buy the player outright for an extra £17.1 million when his loan period is complete. If United choose to use their option to make the player a permanent member of the team next June, they would also be obligated to pay £4.3 million in performance-based add-ons. Due to Manchester United’s FFP worries, a loan with a buyout option turned out to be essential to complete the transaction.
All summer long, Amrabat had been praying for a transfer to Old Trafford, and by the middle of August, it was clear that the midfielder had reached a personal agreement with the Red Devils. Now that a deal has been made official, sources have disclosed that Amrabat had completed a part of his Manchester United physical in Italy before flying to Carrington to complete the transfer.
For now, Amrabat is set to be Erik ten Hag’s and Manchester United’s fourth acquisition on deadline day alone. The club announced the loan signings of Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce and Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur earlier on September 1. They also offered experienced defender Jonny Evans a one-year contract at Old Trafford.
