After being released by Manchester United earlier this season, Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly expressed interest in moving to Arsenal, according to Arsenal superfan Piers Morgan.

Even though the Red Devils’ title ambitions were immediately shattered and they ended the season with their lowest point total in the Premier League era, Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford after the summer 2021 transfer window.

Last summer, the striker tried to arrange a transfer to any club in the Champions League. Bayern Munich and Chelsea are among the teams that have openly stated they were interested in signing Ronaldo, but they later decided against it.

Ronaldo started the 2022–23 season on the bench for newly appointed Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, but he was disciplined for leaving the stadium before the end of the victory against Tottenham in October.

A few weeks before the Winter World Cup, Ronaldo gave an interview in which Piers Morgan attacked Ten Hag and Man Utd’s ownership. He and the club swiftly came to an understanding over the mutual termination of his contract in the days that followed.

Despite his desire to stay in Europe, he ultimately decided to join with Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr on a contract with a total value of almost £250 million.

However, infamous Arsenal supporter Morgan claims that Ronaldo would have helped his team and that the forward told him he was open to a move to the Emirates Stadium.

“We 100% would have won the league if we had signed Ronaldo when he left United, till the end of the season – as he was willing to do, by the way,” Morgan wrote on Twitter, “He understands how to win significant trophies and how to score goals when it matters.

Ronaldo’s attempt to win the Saudi Pro League is probably going to fall short, while Morgan’s Arsenal are nearly certain to end the season in second place to Manchester City in the Premier League.

With only three games left in the season, Al Nassr is three points behind Al Ittihad. Since his transfer to the Middle East, Ronaldo has scored 13 goals and provided two assists in 14 appearances.
