After a close 1-0 victory against Juventus at the San Siro stadium, Inter Milan has advanced to the Coppa Italia final.
Federico Dimarco gave champions Inter the lead after 15 minutes when the semi-final was at 1-1 following the first leg. Following being set up by Nicolo Barella’s precise pass, the left wing-back scored by shooting the ball through the net. Inter will now face either Cremonese or Fiorentina in the final on May 24.
After a furious and extremely contentious first leg in Turin, Inzaghi decided to sit Romelu Lukaku down on the bench. The Chelsea loanee received a red card for celebrating in front of the Juve supporters after converting a first-leg penalty in the 95th minute in reaction to racist taunts from the home crowd.
However, as a gesture to combat racism, the Italian Football Federation reversed Lukaku’s match suspension. The Belgian forward was introduced to the pitch in the 68th minute as Inter easily defeated a Juventus team that posed little offensive danger.
Going into the second leg of the other semifinal on Thursday, Fiorentina holds a 2-0 aggregate advantage.
