By defeating Chennai Super Kings with 32 runs, Rajasthan Royals set a record for the most runs scored by an IPL team in Jaipur.
Rajasthan reached 202-5 with the help of Yashasvi Jaiswal and England’s Jos Buttler’s 86-run partnership off of 50. In order to limit Chennai to 170-6, Adam Zampa claimed 3-22 and removed Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, and Moeen Ali.
After losing their previous two games, Rajasthan rose to the top of the standings, while Chennai fell to third. With one game remaining, the Gujarat Titans are presently in second place, tied with the other two clubs on 10 points.
Before being caught by Tushar Deshpande, Jaiswal led the Royals’ innings with a score of 77 off 43, including three fours in the opening over of the game. Despite Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana regaining some control and Rajasthan falling from 125-2 to 146-4, Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Chand Jurel added 63 runs in the final five overs.
Chennai’s response was a slow powerplay start, with their season-low score of 41-2. In only one over, Chennai went from 69-2 to 73-4 as opener Gaikwad was dismissed for 47 off 29.
By the fifteenth over, Moeen and Shivam Dube of England had recovered to score 51 runs off of 25 to reach 124-5.
Dube achieved his third successive half-century before being caught for 52 off 33 on the penultimate ball of the game by Kuldip Yadav.
