The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) reports that pace bowler James Anderson sustained a “minor strain to his right groin.”
40-year-old Anderson left the field on the first day of Lancashire’s game against Somerset on Thursday, and he did not return when the match finished in a draw on Sunday.
According to the ECB, Anderson’s condition will be looked at closer to the start of the Test against Ireland on 1 June. On Saturday, Anderson underwent a scan for the injury.
Anderson’s injury is not “an emergency,” according to Lancashire head coach Glen Chapple, and “we should be optimistic about his return,” he stated in front of BBC Radio Lancashire.
This week, England will announce its lineup for the game against Ireland at Lord’s. On June 16, a five-test Ashes series versus Australia will begin.
