Australia will begin to feel the strain, according to Chris Woakes, after England won the third men’s Ashes Test on Sunday at Headingley.
Woakes scored the game-winning runs as England defeated Australia by three wickets to lead the series 2-1 with two Tests remaining. On July 19, the fourth Test will begin at Old Trafford.
Woakes, an all-around player, remarked, “The tougher it becomes when you’re so close to obtaining something. The Australians will undoubtedly sense that right now.”
Since the Australian squad led by the famous Don Bradman in 1936–1937, no team has rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win an Ashes series; Australia is looking for their first series victory in England since 2001.
After Harry Brook’s 75 and a spirited cameo from Mark Wood, who smashed an unbroken 16 from eight deliveries, placed England on the verge of victory, Woakes’ unbeaten 32 helped them over the finish line.
