The upcoming battle between USA boxer Giovanni Cabrera and the Mexican former lightweight contender Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz is set for either May or June. Whoever manages to win the fight is set to be in a good position to battle for the championship title.
After losing a tight 12-round to the unbeaten Baltimore native Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis in December 2021, 24-year-old “Pitbull” Cruz would give anything to face the WBA “regular” 135-lb champion again. The ‘Pitbull’ has already requested a rematch with Tank Davis, but Davis is not eager to oblige just yet.
Since then, Cruz has already defeated Eduardo Ramirez and Yuriorkis Gamboa, both of whom are 41 years of age and past their boxing prime years.
This summer in the United States, a lightweight category battle between Giovanni Cabrera and Isaac Cruz is scheduled, but the date has not been set just yet, but the months of May or June are predicted for now.
‘Pitbull’ Cruz reportedly declined a fight with Shakur Stevenson, who held the WBO featherweight title from 2019 to 2020, the WBO super featherweight title from 2021 to 2022, and the WBC and The Ring super featherweight titles in 2022
If he had accepted the fighting opportunity, it would have seen him potentially qualify to contend for the WBC championship.
